The tentacle-like manipulators, "Octarms" which resemble an octopus's limb or an elephant's trunk were developed via a project called OCTOR (sOft robotiC manipulaTORs). This project involves several US universities and is funded by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). It can grasp and lift whether heavy  or fragile object.

機器人觸角: 不若可以深入並遙控控制的兩棲機器蛇，仿若象鼻的"機器人觸角"則是陸上運作的幫手。這是美國國防部和數所大學研發的機器人觸手，非常靈巧，重如磚塊或是易碎的玻璃瓶都可拿起。配有兩套攝影和照明裝製，應此也可以應用在管線和黑暗處。
