Taiwan High Speed Rail. One way fare,US 45, is cheap compared to Amtrak in similar distance.(DC->NY 200mi vs Taipei->Kaohsiung 210mi)
Express trains (one or two stops only) can run up to 300 km/h (186 mph).
Taipei City to Kaohsiung City in roughly 90 minutes as opposed to 4.5 hours by conventional rail
